The Niagara University Purple Eagles suffered disappointing losses in both baseball and softball Tuesday.

The baseball team travelled to Kent State, where they were routed by their hosts, 19-1. Niagara (12-23) scored their lone run in the sixth when Kevin Paulsen's drive brought Ryan McCauley home.

The same two teams will return to action today, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Meanwhile at Niagara University, the Purple Eagles softball team managed to complete one of their two scheduled games against Akron.  After a lengthy rain delay, Niagara lost 4-1 to their guests.

The second game of the doubleheader, which Niagara was leading in the fourth inning, was called for darkness and ruled "no contest."

Niagara softball returns to action Thursday in Buffalo against Canisius in a "Battle of the Bridge" game, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
