A plea bargain may be possible for David L. Alfonso, a Lockport man charged with the attempted murder of his girlfriend’s 7-year-old daughter on New Year’s Eve.

Attorneys in the case and Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas met in her chambers Monday for almost an hour. The case was then adjourned until July 8 so the court can hear from more witnesses.

Alfonso, 28, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.

Alfonso allegedly had choked the girl into unconsciousness and tried to rip her jaw off before her mother stabbed Alfonso with a knife, causing him to run. Police used a Taser electronic stun gun to subdue him. The mother was not charged.
