A 19-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh after a shooting incident in the 1800 block of Niagara Avenue Tuesday night.
Police were called to the area about 11 p.m. for a report of shots fired and found a 19-year-old man laying near the side of a home. Police said he had suffered a ground shot wound to his thigh.
The victim said he was walking down the 1800 block of Niagara Avenue and saw a large group of people fighting. He then heard several gunshots and started running from the area. While running, the victim said he felt pain in his left thigh and fell down.
While on the scene, officers were informed a second possible victim was on the 1800 block of South Avenue.
They found a man lying on a porch, shaking and complaining of a warm, sharp pain in his left hand. An officer checked the man for injuries, but found none.
The man said he was walking east on the 1800 block of Niagara Avenue and heard several gunshots and took off running.
The man said he didn't see anything because he was taught, "When you hear gunshots, run and don't look back."
The gunshot victim was treated by Rural Metro at the scene and taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Rural Metro personnel also checked out the second man but didn't find any injuries either.
Officers found three bullet casings at the scene.
The incident is being investigated.
