Police searching for suspect in fatal Falls shooting

Niagara Gazette — Falls police are actively looking for a suspect in the murder of an Ashland Avenue man.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1300 block of Ashland Avenue just before 5 a.m. Sunday. When patrol officers arrived on the scene, they found Joseph Medley Sr., 37, laying on the ground in front of his home.

Medley had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and was rushed to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was pronounced dead there a short time later.

When contacted Sunday night, Falls police officials were tight-lipped. Detectives have declined to comment on a possible motive for the slaying.

They also had no comment on whether any suspects had been identified.

Investigators did say that they received some cooperation from neighborhood residents and expressed their thanks to the community for their assistance.

Detective said they are continuing to look for help from the public. Anyone who may have information about the shooting is asked to Falls police at 286-4553.
