Niagara Gazette — Falls Police have identified a suspect in a series of robberies on Pine Avenue.

They're looking for help from the public to locate him.

Detectives say they have arrest warrants for Stanley S. Roberts, 22, whose last known address was in Amherst. Roberts is 6-feet-3 and weighs 175 pounds.

He faces three counts of second-degree robbery and a single count of second-degree assault.

The trio of robberies took place on March 25 in the early evening hours and involved the theft of cell phones. In one case, Roberts is accused of displaying a gun and in the other two incidents he reportedly assaulted his victims.

A 15-year-old boy told police he was walking in the 1500 block of Pine Avenue, when he was approached by a man who was riding a black mountain bike with a malfunctioning chain.

The teen said the suspect asked him if his cell phone was activated and then demanded the phone. When the victim refused to give up his phone, he and the suspect began to fight.

After a brief scuffle, the suspect displayed what appeared to be a black, semi-automatic pistol and again demanded the victim’s cell phone. The victim still refused to give up his phone, but the suspect was able to snatch it from him and then fled south on Pine Avenue on the mountain bike.

Less than 10 minutes later, a 21-year-old man told police he was walking in the 2000 block of Pine Avenue when a man matching the description of the suspect in the first robbery, riding a black mountain bike, stopped him and asked to use his cell phone.

When the victim took his cell phone out, the suspect grabbed it and punched him in the face. The suspect told the victim, “I’m taking the phone.”

The victim began to fight with the suspect, who repeatedly hit him in the face. The suspect then fled north on his bike down Pine Avenue.

A third robbery followed. Police have not released details of that hold-up.

The first victim told police he saw the suspect again, after the time of the second robbery, talking to patrons of a store at 19th Street and Pine Avenue. The teen said when the suspect saw him, he again fled on his bike.

Anyone who may have information about the robberies or the whereabouts of Roberts is asked to call Falls police detectives at 286-4553.
