Driver, passenger killed in Newfane car accident

Two people were killed in a Ridge Road car crash Saturday night.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office reports that a vehicle was traveling west on Ridge Road at a high rate of speed about 10:15 p.m. and failed to negotiate a curve in the road.

The driver lost control and veered onto the north side of the road, in the area of 7191 Ridge Road, striking a mailbox, a small tree and then a large tree before coming to a rest.

Both the driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Names of the victims are being withheld until families are notified and the investigation is complete.
