Falls woman killed by couple from North Carolina after argument, fight

Niagara Gazette — Police say two North Carolina residents in town for a wedding took turns shooting a 39-year-old Falls woman and now face charges following her death hours later.

The shooting took place about 3:30 a.m. Saturday on North Avenue.

Falls police were called to an apartment there after receiving reports of shots fired at the location and found the Falls woman suffering from two gunshot wounds.

Richard Moore, 50, and Cammesoa Williams, 42, both of Winston-Salem, N.C. were arrested at the scene.

Police say Moore and Williams were in town for a wedding and met the victim through a friend. An argument and  physical fight ensued between the victim, Williams and a third woman in the apartment.

After the victim got the better of her opponents in the fight, police said, Moore retrieved a gun and shot the woman in the abdomen area.

Moore and Williams left the scene momentarily in their rental car but police said both Moore and Williams returned to the scene and Williams used the gun to shoot the victim as well, this time in her buttocks.

Falls police officers arrived shortly thereafter and took both Moore and Williams into custody without incident.

The woman was rushed to Erie County Medical Center for treatment but died late Saturday morning of her wounds.

Both Moore and Williams have now been charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of firearm.

The victim’s identity was not released Saturday pending the nonfiction of family members.
