Niagara Falls firefighters responded to an incident at Tier Holdings at 33 S. Hyde Park Blvd. about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after a chemical being used to clean a tank car reacted with a chemical in the tank car causing a plume of smoke.

Among the activities conducted at Tier Holdings, the business uses caustic chemicals to scrub out and clean chemical train tank cars.

Once Falls firefighters arrived on the scene, the smoke was dissipated in 20 minutes.

Before being dissipated, the smoke drifted into a nearby business and firefighters said about 10 people reported they may seek medical attention on their own but were not transported to a hospital.
