Gov. Andrew Cuomo will visit Niagara Falls on Thursday to make an announcement about "economic development."

According to the governor's office, Cuomo is scheduled to make an appearance Thursday morning at Conference Center Niagara Falls on Third Street.

The specific nature of the announcement is not known, although it is believed to be related to the Niagara Falls City Council's recent decision to approve an agreement for a $25 million hotel project with Buffalo developer Mark Hamister.

Mayor Paul Dyster declined to discuss the nature of Cuomo's visit on Wednesday, saying only that it is expected to involve positive economic development news for the city.

"We are always glad to have the governor here," Dyster said. "We think the fact that he's come to Western New York so frequently shows the priority he's placed on economic development here in the region, not just in Niagara Falls."
