Lew-Port ranks fifth in elementary school rankings

Niagara Gazette — Lewiston-Porter Primary Education Center has some bragging rights this year.

After not showing up in the 2012-13 Buffalo Business First elementary rankings, the primary school found itself ranked as the fifth-best in Western New York's eight counties for 2013-14, according to the publication.

The finish marks the highest position a Niagara County elementary school recorded in the annual rankings.

Using New York State Education Department data from 2009-2012 to formulate its rankings, each school is assigned a grade on a 100-point scale based on performances each year. The grades are averaged together with extra weight given to the most recent year's data.

A total of 281 schools were ranked this year.

Other Niagara County elementary schools include: (In Niagara-Wheatfield) Errick Road (57), Holy Ghost Elementary (59), St. John Lutheran School (89), St. Peter's Lutheran (96), West Street Elementary (131), Colonial Village (171), Tuscarora School (208), Niagara Charter School (247); (in Lewiston-Porter) St. Peter's Catholic School (72), Lew-Port Intermediate School (105), Stella Niagara (111); (in Niagara Falls) Maple Avenue Elementary (116), G.J. Do you think cigarette sales to non-Native American customers should be taxed on reservations?

Yes. Items should be taxed like they are everywhere else.
No, the indian reservations are sovereign land and they are selling them on their land.
Not up to me. Native Americans decide the rules on their land.
Don't care. Smoking isn't good for you.
