Rifle, ammo taken from unlocked truck in Cambria

A 74-year-old Ridge Road man reported to Niagara County Sheriff's deputies Sunday that sometime over the weekend a rifle was taken from his unlocked pickup truck.

The weapon, which had been in a rack behind the seat, was taken sometime between Friday and Sunday. The man told deputies he discovered the theft after finding a screwdriver that didn't belong to him on the front seat.

The man said he believed it was a 22-caliber Mossberg camouflage rifle with a scope attached.

A sheriff's investigator was called in to process the truck as the man said he had only touched the passenger-side door prior to deputies' arrival.

Once investigators were done going over the vehicle, the man realized that a cooler-type bag containing ammunition for the rifle was gone from the truck as well.

He also mentioned to deputies that a large number of firearms had been taken from in a past burglary as well.

Yes. Items should be taxed like they are everywhere else.
No, the indian reservations are sovereign land and they are selling them on their land.
Not up to me. Native Americans decide the rules on their land.
Don't care. Smoking isn't good for you.
