Niagara Gazette — Time is in short supply for the Trusello family. Unfortunately for fans of their pizza, time has run out.
The owner, Charlotte Trusello, along with her husband, Tony, decided a couple weeks ago their full-time jobs took priority over running their pizzeria, Trusello's, located at 742 Center St., Lewiston. This past weekend, the business closed its doors for good with a thank you to its customers and an invitation to grab one last slice.
"My wife and I both have full-time jobs," Tony Trusello said. "It just wasn't working out for us. It's tough when you're not there to run the business. And with the cost of food lately, the way everything's going up, I don't know how anybody's doing it."
The family had been in business for about a year and a half. Closing up shop took only a couple weeks of decisions, he said.
The pizzeria didn't employ a lot of people, but Trusello said he's feeling bad about hurting the few he did hire. He said he's also going to miss meeting and greeting his customers every day.
He said if he were a little older, he'd have considered keeping it open because of the customers.
"If I were closer to retirement, I would have kept it so I could have been there," he said. "Some day, who knows. Maybe I'll do it again when I'm closer to retiring, now that I've learned what I've learned."
But while the Trusellos aren't interested in owning their own business, at least for now, they're not giving up hope the business can survive in a different form under new ownership.
So Tony Trusello said the corporation is up for sale and he's listening to any serious offers he receives.
None have come in yet, but he said he is talking to folks expressing interest. He's answering questions they have about ownership, especially in the food service industry. He said he's hoping some offers come in soon.
"A lot of people so far are thinking about it," he said. "It's a lot of work. Some people just think you start out strong. But it's a lot of work. And unless you have name recognition, it's difficult."

To ease the burden on whoever he decides to sell to, he's kept the shop fully stocked with equipment, which will be part of any deal.
There's also one more ingredient, he said, which comes with buying the company: his family's sauce recipe.
"If someone wants to buy it, they can have the Trusello recipe with it," he said. "That was our money maker."
