Elderly man dies after being struck by vehicle in Lewiston

A Lewiston man has died of injuries sustained following a vehicle-pedestrian accident on Model City Road in the Town of Lewiston, police said.

At 5:04 p.m. Thursday, police said Jose Martinez, 84, of Model City Road in Lewiston, was attempting to cross the street to deliver food to his neighbors when he was struck by a vehicle driven by an 82-year-old Lewiston woman.

A St. Johnsburg volunteer firefighter was performing CPR when police arrived on the scene, according to reports, though members of Lewiston Fire Co. No. 1 later pronounced Martinez dead at 5:20 p.m.

The striking vehicle was stopped at the scene and displayed extensive front-end damage and windshield, according to police. The driver of the vehicle said she was returning home when she heard an impact to her vehicle.

She said she stopped and found the victim. Police were contacted shortly after by motorists at the scene.

She said she never saw the victim in the road prior to the accident, police said. Officers added a preliminary investigation showed the vehicle did not veer from its driving lane during the course of the incident.

Police said, as of 10 p.m. Thursday, no charges have been filed against the driver, with the investigation continuing.

Yes. Items should be taxed like they are everywhere else.
No, the indian reservations are sovereign land and they are selling them on their land.
Not up to me. Native Americans decide the rules on their land.
