Niagara Gazette — One of Niagara Falls’ most recognizable holiday traditions will once again shed light and holiday cheer throughout the city, when the United Way of Greater Niagara kicks off the annual Holiday Lights of Niagara Trail.
The event, which provides families from throughout the region a fun, safe and entertaining way to start their holiday celebrations, will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near Sal Maglie Stadium in Hyde Park.
The free annual celebration will feature performances by local dance and choir groups and an appearance by Santa Claus.
At the conclusion of the event, Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster and Carol Houwaart-Diez, president of United Way of Greater Niagara, will turn on the holiday light displays throughout Hyde Park and spectators will enjoy a spectacular fireworks display. Dozens of illuminated displays will be located throughout Hyde Park and across the City of Niagara Falls.
The Holiday Lights of Niagara Trail will run from Wednesday through Jan. 31, operating from 5 to 10 p.m. nightly.
This year’s effort is being presented by United Way of Greater Niagara, the City of Niagara Falls, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 237, WGRZ-TV and several participating business sponsors.
