CITY OF TONAWANDA

Couple charged with selling drugs with kids present

A Broad Street couple face numerous charges for selling drugs from their apartment — oftentimes while their two small children were present.

The two suspects were awakened about 6:15 a.m. Friday when police and SWAT team members rammed in the door of the upper apartment at 481 Broad St. to serve a warrant they had obtained. Police arrested Richard A. Davidson, 37, and his live-in girlfriend, Keri L. Allen, 24.

“We had had complaints from residents concerned about the traffic around that area,” Tonawanda Detective Tim Toth said.

Police also developed information through a month-long investigation that Davidson was selling pot, cocaine and other controlled substances from the residence. City police sought the assistance of the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), which sent an undercover officer to the apartment to buy drugs on four separate occasions.

Davidson and Allen have an 11-month-old child and Allen has a 4-year-old from a previous relationship. “All of the sales took place in front of or while at least one of the children were there,” said Tonawanda Capt. John Ivancic.

Davidson faces numerous drug charges, including criminal possession of a hallucinogen, second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale, all of which are felonies.

Allen was also charged with criminal possession of a hallucinogen and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both have also been charged with multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child.



Niagara Falls

• BURGLARY: A 53-year-old 75th Street man reported to police Friday that sometime since Wednesday someone had broken into his home and taken five guns worth $1,300. The man said a Remington shotgun, Russian SKS, Chinese Mack-90, Mossberg shotgun, Remington 770 rifle and Ithica Featherlight were taken. The estimated value of the guns is $1,300.

• CHARGED: Mark W. Morton, 48, Sloan, was charged with possession of marijuana about 10:15 a.m. Friday, according to Falls police. Morton was caught with a baggie of a substance that field-tested positive for marijuana inside the Niagara County Civic building, 775 Third St.

• CHARGED: Jheryl B. Carter, 19, 416 12th St., was charged with disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly about 3:45 p.m. Friday. Carter was charged after refusing police orders to leave the area of Forest Avenue and 19th Street. Carter was part of a large group of people who had congragated in the area.

• LARCENY: A Cayuga Drive man reported that his 2006 Polaris Outlaw four-wheel ATV, according to police. The vehicle was secured with a Masterlock Lock and tow chain. The report said the items were valued at $3,930.

Pendleton

• UNLICENSED OPERATION: Thomas Eisenberger Jr., 26, 64 Burgundy Terrace, Amherst, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation on Thursday. According to reports, police saw the suspect pass through the red light north on Campbell Boulevard at Bear Ridge Road. Police stopped the suspect vehicle in the lot of 6476 Main Road. A driver’s license check showed the suspect’s license was revoked on charges of driving while ability impaired. Eisenberger is due Oct. 22 in Pendleton Town Court.

Cambria

• STOLEN: A Saunders Settlement man reported that his 1982 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle was stolen out of a storage trailer that was parked next to his house. The motorcycle was taken some time between Sept. 27 and Thursday. The report said the motorcycle was valued at $5,000.

Lewiston

• DWI: Lindsay Williams, 23, 2435 Lords Hill Road, Lafayette, was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated. The report said police saw a red Toyota traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Center Street in the Village of Lewiston. The vehicle in question reached speeds of 47 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police stopped the vehicle near the intersection of North Fourth Street and Onondaga Street. The report said the driver was identified as the suspect.

City of Lockport

• NO LICENSE: Brandon Godfrey, 24, 7023 Northview Drive, was charged Thursday with unlicensed operation. According to reports, police stopped the suspect when a computer check of the registered owner’s vehicle showed his license was suspended. Godfrey is due Wednesday in Lockport City Court.

• BURGLARY: Anthony Solotes, 20, 79 Allen St., was charged Thursday with burglary and petit larceny. Police received a call about a possible break-in on Allen Street, according to reports. Upon arriving, police said they saw the suspect walking out the front door. The suspect allegedly told police his mother asked him to go over to his grandmother’s house and take care of the dog while she was working. Police said the suspect’s mother initially confirmed that information. The report said the original caller thought the information sounded inaccurate. When asked a second time, the mother said she misunderstood the residence in question and never gave the suspect permission to enter, according to reports. The grandmother arrived and found her black leather women’s wallet containing $600 was missing, according to reports. Solotes is due Thursday in Lockport City Court.

n NO PLATES: Kenneth Hudson, 24, 3902 Lockport-Olcott Road, was charged Thursday with unlicensed operation, no or expired inspection and insurance, unregistered motor vehicle, improper plates and plate display. The report said police saw a vehicle traveling on Washburn Street without front license plates. Police stopped the vehicle on Main Street, and a vehicle check revealed switched plates and a suspended driver’s license, according to reports. Hudson is due at 9 a.m. Oct. 15 in Lockport City Court.

Town of Lockport

• SHOPLIFTING: Anne Gruenauer, 58, 6655 Royal Parkway, was charged with petit larceny Thursday. The police report said police responded to The Bon Ton on South Transit Road for a shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, police spoke with security, who said told them the suspect had put merchandise in her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying. The report said the suspect had taken four shirts valued at $169 and one pair of shoes valued at $90 for a total of $259. The suspect was issued an appearance ticket and is due Thursday in Town of Lockport Court.

• DWI: Stephen Verbocy, 52, 7652 Highland Drive, was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated. According to reports, police saw a vehicle cross over the white line on Keck Road. Police followed the vehicle, which then turned east on Chestnut Ridge Road, making a wide right turn, according to reports. The vehicle was pulled over, and police spoke to the driver, who was identified as Verbocy. The police report said officers could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage as Verbocy spoke. The report said when asked if he had been drinking, the suspect said “Yes, five rum and cokes.” The suspect allegedly failed all four field sobriety tests he was given. Verbocy is due Tuesday in the Town of Lockport Court.

Royalton

• GRAND LARCENY: A 6th Street, Dunkirk woman told police Thursday after 10 p.m. Wednesday, an unknown person stole her vehicle from a Central Avenue driveway. The police report said was valued at approximately $2,000. The victim said that on the back window it states, “DoDo Brown Can You Hear me Now” and Kustom Works. The report said on both doors she had blue and black flames. The victim said in the trunk was a Marlin 30/30 rifle with no ammo.

• PETIT LARCENY: On Thursday a Rochester Road man told police sometime between 5:45 a.m. and about 4 p.m. while at work someone entered his residence and took his lap top computer valued at $500, according to the police report. Entry was made through an unlocked door.
