TOWN OF TONAWANDA

Police investigating attempted abduction

A man tried to force a Hoover Middle School student to get into his vehicle while she was walking home from school earlier this week, the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District reported Friday.

The incident took place at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday while the student was walking to Colvin Boulevard from the school, Superintendent Mark Mondanaro said in a letter sent home with students on Friday. He said the district wasn’t notified of the incident until Friday.

The student was walking along the off-street driveway of the district’s buildings and grounds department and said the man spoke with an accent, was very tan and had a beard or a mustache. He was driving a black or blue SUV. Those descriptions match reports of a similar incident that occurred this week in the Sweet Home School District.

Amherst police reported Thursday that two teenage girls were approached by a man in a dark-colored SUV in separate incidents on Monday and Tuesday.

Five minutes later, Stachowiak came out of the home and walked toward the car. She was released on an appearance ticket for Niagara Town Court.
