CITY OF TONAWANDA

Main St. resident faces drug charges

Federal marshals searching an apartment for two fugitives didn’t find their suspects Tuesday night, but they did locate plenty of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

At about 10 p.m. Tuesday, city police arrested Richard D. Thompson, 34, of 45 Main St. Apt. B, and charged him with felony criminal possession of a hallucinogen, unlawful growing of cannabis and unlawful possession of marijuana. Among the items police seized was a bag of suspected psilocybin mushrooms.

In addition, police discovered two small marijuana growing operations — more than two-dozen plants in all — inside the apartment. Two of the plants were 4-feet tall. Police also found a safe containing $250 cash and marijuana paraphernalia.

U.S. Marshals came to the Tonawanda police station Tuesday evening seeking the assistance of city detectives in staking out Thompson’s apartment.

Marshals believed Thompson had contact with the two individuals for whom they were searching. The two suspects have several outstanding felony arrest warrants.



CITY OF LOCKPORT

Woman charged with scratching officer

An Elmwood Avenue woman was taken into custody after disrupting traffic and fighting with police who were trying to get her out of the way.

Holly N. Sewell, 25, 232 Elmwood Ave., was charged Wednesday morning with second-degree harassment, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Officers responded to Davison Road about 8:15 a.m. and found Sewell walking down the middle of East High Street. Lockport Police Lt. Terry Gill reportedly told her to walk on the side of the road, but Sewell refused, so Gill attempted to take her into custody. Sewell then scratched Gill on the upper lip, then continued to struggle, attempting to strike him again.

She was taken to the ground and handcuffed, the report said.



Niagara Falls

• THEFT: Police are investigating a theft from a home in the 400 block of Eighth Street. A 30-year-old woman told officers that a juvenile suspect who had been at the home at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday took an MP3 player, a Nintendo DS game system, a Gameboy Advanced game system and a Sega Dreamcast game system.

• THEFT: Officers are looking into a theft from a business in the 2400 block of Pine Avenue. An employee told police that a woman entered the business at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday and took five pairs of eyeglasses valued at $1,000.

• VANDALISM: Police are looking for a suspect in a case of vandalism in the 300 block of Ferry Avenue. Police and employees of the Niagara Falls Water Board said they found someone had poured concrete and placed a metal pole into a water line, sometime before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The vandalism took place at a location where water service was scheduled to be shut-off for non-payment.

• ROBBERY: Officers are looking into a robbery in the 600 block alley of 19th Street. A 55-year-old man told police he was walking in that area at 9 a.m. Sunday when he was approached by two male suspects who asked him for money. When the victim refused, the two men punched him and knocked him to the ground and then began kicking him. The suspects took the victim’s eyeglasses and $9.

• ARREST: A Falls teenager was arrested after a series of car break-ins in the 600 block of Ninth Street. James E. D. Wilson, 16, 451 Eight St., was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal mischief, petit larceny, criminal possession of burglar tools, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana. Police were alerted to the break-ins at 12:40 a.m. by a witness who saw Wilson smash the driver’s side window of a 2008 Hummer. Officers responded and chased Wilson through several backyards before apprehending him. They found burglar tools and a baggie containing marijuana in his possession. Police also discovered that Wilson had smashed a driver’s side window on a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse and on a 1999 Ford Explorer. Officers recovered a camera case, taken from the Explorer, lying on the ground next to Wilson’s get-away bike.

City of Lockport

• SHOPLIFTING: Christopher M. Howard, 20, 6367 Robinson Road, Apt. 11, was charged early Wednesday with petit larceny. Howard allegedly tried to steal several items from a store on South Transit Street about 2 a.m. Officers arrived and found the items, worth $29.27, in Howard’s pockets, the report said. Howard reportedly tried to hang himself in a cell at the Lockport Police Department. Constant supervision was started, the mental health department was notified, and he was transferred to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, the report said.

• OBSTRUCTION: Mark A. Mix, 28, 162 Lock St., was charged early Wednesday with second-degree obstructing governmental administration. A family member told police Mix had threatened to “throw himself in the canal,” the report said. Officers searched the area for Mix and reportedly found him running on Lock Street. He allegedly refused to stop and talk with officers. Officers found Mix hiding under a car on Lock Street about 3:10 a.m. He reportedly denied making any suicidal threats. He was released on his own recognizance.

• HARASSMENT: Matthew F. Greene, 16, 288 South St., Apt. 3, was charged Wednesday with second-degree harassment. Greene allegedly pushed a juvenile off his bike at the Skate Park on Corinthia Street about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4. The juvenile told police he suffered a large bruise on his shoulder in the fall. Greene then allegedly kicked him in the back of the knee. Greene turned himself in Wednesday morning, the report said.

• IMPERSONATION: Ronald J. Boon, 33, 147 Waterman St., was charged Wednesday morning with second-degree criminal impersonation. Boon allegedly told police his name was Lorenzo Boon and gave a false birthdate when he was interviewed during an investigation into a disturbance on Waterman Street on Sept. 7. Boon reportedly has a warrant out for him from the parole department.

Town of Lockport

• DWI: James E. Pazik, 58, 5662 Murphy Road, was charged Wednesday morning with driving while intoxicated, following too closely and speeding. Pazik was reportedly involved in a two-vehicle collision on Campbell Boulevard about 12:38 a.m. He reportedly rear-ended a tractor trailer that was stopped at a red light. Pazik allegedly told deputies, “I was driving and playing with the controls and hit the truck.” When deputies asked if he’d been drinking, Pazik allegedly said, “I had four beers at the casino, but I’m OK. ... I was driving home from the casino, and then this (expletive) in the semi stops for no reason.” Pazik allegedly failed several field sobriety tests and told deputies, “I’m stone drunk. I can’t do this stuff.” He allegedly refused a breath test for blood alcohol content. He was held in lieu of $250 bail and is due Tuesday in Lockport Town Court.

• SHOPLIFTING: Theresa M. Campbell, 28, 5770 Sweetwood Drive, Apt. F, was charged Tuesday afternoon with petit larceny. Campbell allegedly tried to steal a Mountain Dew, a block of butter and a sugar cookie from Wal-Mart on South Transit Road. She was stopped by store security, the report said. She was released on an appearance ticket and is due Oct. 14 in Lockport Town Court.

• BURGLARY: A Minnick Road woman reported Tuesday that between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., someone entered her unlocked home and stole a safe out of the bedroom closet. The safe contained miscellaneous papers, $50 in cash and loose change. The woman said a bottle of Lortab and a bottle of Prednisone were taken from the living room, and a small metal box containing personal papers was also stolen. Together, the items are worth about $320, the report said.
