BLOTTER: Police reports published Sept. 22

PORTER

Motorcyclist killed in accident

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an accident near the intersection of Porter Center and Youngstown-Lockport roads early Sunday morning.

After being called to the area for an accident, deputies found the unidentified motorcycle driver unconscious and unresponsive.

After ambulance crews performed CPR, the driver was taken to Mount St. Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It appeared the motorcyclist had failed to negotiate the intersection and lost control of his bike, a release said.

The Sheriff’s Department still had not released the driver’s identity Sunday night.

Standoff ends peacefully

Police were called to 87th Street shortly before noon Sunday for a report of a man who had barricaded himself in his home and threatened to kill himself.

The man’s 15-year-old son was reportedly still in the house at the time, but his 17-year-old daughter had left.

Police officials said Sunday night the matter was resolved peacefully and the man gave himself up to officers called to the scene.

NIAGARA FALLS

• ASSAULT: Falls police are investigating an armed assault in the 1600 block of Linwood Avenue. Officers were called to the scene at 2 a.m. Sunday and found the victim inside a home with a 4-inch cut to his right forearm. According to witnesses, he had been jumped by another man and cut by a broken beer bottle. The victim, who admitted he was drunk, refused to assist in the police investigation and claimed he got the cut by punching out a window. He was treated at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

• ARREST: Robert J. Payne Jr., 25, 2229 Pierce Ave., was charged with felony fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana at 1 a.m. Sunday. Officers found him smoking a marijuana cigar while sitting inside a car parked in the 1500 block of Pierce Avenue. Police also found a bag containing crack cocaine inside the vehicle.

• ARREST: Antwine M. West, 36,1157 Ontario Ave., was charged with driving while intoxicated and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Officers responded to a crowd of men surrounding a car parked in the 1900 block of Ferry Avenue at 2:21 a.m. Sunday. West was sitting in the driver’s seat and the ignition was on. Officers found a nearly empty pint of vodka and a pair of metal knuckles inside the car. West failed a field sobriety test and later recorded a blood-alcohol content of 0.10.

• ARREST: Linnisha M. Jemes, 24, of Buffalo, was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following an incident Sunday morning in the parking lot of Denny’s Restaurant on Niagara Falls Boulevard. Officers responded to a group of people arguing outside the restaurant at 6:14 a.m. and attempted to disperse the crowd. Jemes refused several orders to leave and struggled with officers when being placed under arrest. She is also accused of being uncooperative during the booking process and trying to prevent being thrown in jail by grabbing onto the cell bars. Officers had to force her into the cell, according to the report. Police also charged Tyrone M. Bell of Niagara Falls with disorderly conduct for refusing to leave the scene outside of Denny’s.

• ARREST: Jamika M. Hunter, 18, 947 Ontario Ave., Apt. 12, was charged with third-degree assault following a fight at 3:09 a.m. Sunday near the corner of Third Street and Ferry Avenue. Hunter is accused of hitting another woman with her shoe, causing minor injuries to the victim’s face.

• ARREST: Robert R. Seefeldt, 29, 439 24th St., was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Sunday morning. Officers found him inside a car in the 400 block of Second Street smoking a marijuana cigarette. He was issued a court appearance ticket.

• INCIDENT: A security manager at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel told police a patron drove his vehicle into him twice after being denied access into the casino Saturday night. The guard said he was trying to arrest the man, but he got inside his car and pulled it forward, bumping into the guard’s knee. The driver then back up slightly and moved forward, striking the guard again in the knee before driving out of the lot.
