DA will reduce charges

The Niagara County District Attorney’s office announced Friday it will in fact reduce felony charges for three Wilson High School baseball players arrested after a April 17 sexual assault on a school bus.

“Following several months of continued investigation and additional interviews ... it is my decision to reduce the felony charges to an appropriate misdemeanor charge and add misdemeanor and violation charges of hazing,” DA Michael Violante said in a release. “This provides a set of charges that more accurately reflect the facts as we now believe them and will facilitate our prosecution of these charges.”

Grand opening for park

A party featuring tribute artist Shania Twin will be held Monday at the town’s newest park, Porter-on-the-Lake. The event runs from 1 to 6 p.m. Twin, a Shania Twain tribute artist, will perform at 4 p.m. The park is located on Lake Road at Dietz Road in Youngstown.
