WHEATFIELD: ATV rider injured in crash

Man thrown 80 feet from crash site

Staff Reports
Niagara Gazette

A 41-year-old man was flown to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight Sunday night after he was hit by a car while crossing Nash Road on his ATV.

Donald Kelly, 6921 Nash Road, is listed in serious condition at ECMC with compound leg and wrist fractures, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the car told deputies he was traveling down Nash Road about 9 p.m. when Kelly came from the west side of the road and crossed diagonally in front of his car.

After striking the car in the northbound lane, the driver of the car headed north on Nash and called 911.

The ATV came to rest in a ditch on the east side of the road. Kelly was ejected and landed on the east side of the road, 80 feet from the crash site. Deputies reported he also struck a guide wire after being ejected.

The occupants of the car were unharmed.

The Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate the crash.
