The Niagara-Wheatfield Board of Education welcomed new board member Kristen MacKenzie and voted on the positions of board president and vice president at its reorganization meeting Thursday.
Board member Lori Pittman requested the board go into executive session to discuss elections of the board president and vice president positions which the district’s legal counsel cautioned was not a legitimate reason for going into executive session.
However, the board held a vote to go into executive session but it was voted down 4-3.
The board also voted 4-3 to re-elect Michele Hoerner as president and elect William Conrad as board vice president.
“I want to thank the board for its vote of confidence for the position of vice president,” Conrad said. “I look forward to working together for the district in the next year.”
The board also appointed Kerin Dumphrey as district clerk and purchasing agent for the district for the 2009-10 school year.
Melanie Conley was appointed as district treasurer and deputy board recorder. The board also appointed Kristine Hill as internal claims auditor at a salary of $5,500 a year and Patty L. Cramer as district tax collector at a salary of $6,000 a year.
