RANSOMVILLE

Wilson teen facing new charges

One of the Wilson High School baseball players charged in connection with an assault on a school bus has been arrested on drug charges.

Colton J. Sherman, 16, 2655 Youngstown-Lockport Road, was charged early Wednesday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Sheriff’s deputies said they found Sherman in possession of HydroCodone about 1:05 a.m. on Ransomville Road.

Sherman was placed under arrest and held on $500 bail. He is due May 13 in Porter Town Court.

The other two teens were not charged.

Sherman, along with Christopher A. Sidote, 16, and Geoffrey A. Seefeldt, 18, is due May 22 in Wilson Town Court to face charges of third-degree aggravated sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. The three teens are accused of assaulting at least two junior varsity players during an April 17 bus trip back to Wilson from Niagara Falls.



TONAWANDA

DWI charges follow head-on collision

State police say a South Carolina man faces drunken driving charges after driving the wrong way on the I-190 and colliding with a tractor-trailer.

Troopers say 45-year-old Derrick Chisholm of Hardeeville was traveling north in the southbound lanes of the Niagara Thruway when he crashed head-on into a truck shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday in Tonawanda, just north of Buffalo.

Police say Chisholm suffered a hip fracture and was treated at a Buffalo hospital, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated. The truck driver suffered a minor head injury.

The crash shut down all of I-190’s southbound lanes for three hours. All lanes were reopened around 5:30 a.m.



Niagara Falls

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 2100 block of Jerauld Avenue. A 26-year-old man told officers that sometime between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday someone broke into his garage. The victim said some stereo speakers and amplifiers, a table saw, a circular saw, an air compressor and a grill were taken.

• THEFT: Officers are looking into a vehicle break-in in the 2400 block of Niagara Avenue. A 52-year-old man told police that sometime between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday someone broke into his vehicle by smashing a passenger-side window. The victim said a vehicle stereo system was taken.

• THEFT: Police are investigating a car break-in in the 2100 block of Jerauld Avenue. A 58-year-old man told officers that sometime between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6:20 a.m. Wednesday someone broke into his car by smashing a rear window. The victim said the car radio and some CDs were taken.

Wheatfield

• MENACING: Two 16-year-olds sitting on a porch on Duerto Drive told police Tuesday night that a white man in his 20s, driving a green pickup with a white or gray stripe along the side, pulled into the driveway. The teens said the man rolled down the passenger-side window and pointed a gun at them. When they went inside to call 911, the man parked outside for about five minutes before driving away south on Williams Road, the teens said. Deputies checked the area but did not find a pickup matching that description. The area was continually checked throughout the night, the report said.

• CONTEMPT: Jeffrey S. Walker, 44, 138 Sixth St., North Tonawanda, was charged Monday with second-degree criminal contempt. Deputies stopped Walker in Oppenheim Park to investigate a car parked there after dark. Walker, the driver, told police he and his passenger, a North Tonawanda woman, were dishing. The woman appeared to be intoxicated and a database check found the woman had an order of protection against Walker. The woman was picked up by a family member and Walker was remanded to the Niagara County Jail on $250 bail. He is due May 15 in Wheatfield Town Court.

• LARCENY: A Meadowbrook Acres woman reported Tuesday that overnight someone entered her car and stole an iPod, two cell phones, an mp3 player, $27 in cash and a wallet, together worth $631.

Newfane

• BURGLARY: A Lockport-Olcott Road man reported Monday that over the weekend, someone broke into his home and stole a 27-inch flat screen TV, baby formula, a black cat, a DVD player, speakers, clothing, a PlayStation 2, a PlayStation 3 and an amplifier. THe items are worth $5,180.
