Student charged after abduction claim

A Gaskill Middle School student has been charged with falsely filing a report after she claimed to have been kidnapped on her way to school.

The student, who was not identified, initially told school officials that she was walking to school when a man with a goatee, black sunglasses and driving a black jeep grabbed her at the corner of 27th Street and Pierce Avenue, threw her in the back seat of the vehicle and began to drive around the city.

The girl said the man eventually dropped her off at 22nd Street and Pierce Avenue and she then went to the middle school.

Under questioning by police detectives, the student later admitted “she was skipping school because it was a half day and it was nice out.”

CITY OF LOCKPORT

Intruder sufferswound to leg

A city man was treated for a stab wound in his leg after police say he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment early Tuesday.

Charles A. West, 22, 138 Olcott St., left, was charged Tuesday morning with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree attempted assault.

An Olcott Street woman told police that a man climbed through her back window about 1:25 a.m. She said she struck the man several times with a wooden table leg, but the man grabbed the table leg and hit her in the leg with it, the report said. The woman said she grabbed a knife from the kitchen. At that point, she realized the man was her ex-boyfriend, West.

West wrestled with the woman in the living room, and she stabbed him in the leg.

West and the woman then had a “peaceful communication,” the report said. He then left the home and went to Inter-Community Memorial Hospital in Newfane for treatment of his leg injury.
