DWI charges follow morning accident

A Rochester woman was charged with DWI after a crash early Wednesday.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department said a Honda Civic driven by Ashley Reichert of Rochester and a Chevrolet pickup driven by Steven Manchester of Lacona were both headed east on East Lake Road when Reichert tried to pass the pickup on the right at about 6:30 a.m.

The vehicles collided, and both crossed over to the other side of the road, striking a mailbox, a fence and a row of trees.

Reichert was transported to Erie County Medical Center via Mercy Flight. She was treated in the emergency room and discharged later Wednesday. Manchester was also transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight. He was not listed as a patient there on Wednesday afternoon.

Manchester’s passenger, Trent Pearson, of Plainville, Ind., was transported to ECMC by Wilson Fire Company ambulance. He was still in the emergency room Wednesday afternoon.

Reichert was charged with DWI, passing on the right and an open container violation.
