WILSON: Missing woman found alive in wooded area

Staff Reports
Lockport Union-Sun & Journal

WILSON An elderly Wilson woman who had been missing since Thursday morning was found alive late Friday afternoon by her brother in a wooded area not far from her home on Cambria-Wilson Road.

Authorities indicated that Lucille Schurr, 83, was in good condition, but may have suffered a shoulder injury.

Reports are that she was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight for further treatment.

Union-Sun & Journal reporter April Amadon and photographer Joe Eberle were on the scene during the rescue. A full report will follow in Saturday's editions.

The search for Schurr began about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, when a family member called the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department to report she was missing.

Family members and dozens of volunteers had combed the fields and farms surrounding the home. Schurr suffers from dementia, and searchers were told she may have wandered from her home.
