West Lane residents being evacuated as standoff continues in Lewiston

New York State Police and Lewiston Police are on the scene of a standoff on West Lane in the Village of Lewiston.

Nearby residents have been asked to evacuate their homes and leave the area until the incident has been resolved. Residents on nearby Mohawk, between North Seventh Street and East Lane are also being asked to stay away from the area.

Residents on Oxbow Lane between North Fifth and East Lane are also asked to avoid the area or stay in their residences unless necessary to leave.

State Police spokesperson Trooper Morales says that homes were asked to evacuate as a precaution after police responded to a complaint call made by a man barricaded inside a West Lane home.

Police are continuing to stay in contact with the man and believe he does not pose a threat to himself or anyone else.
