Lewiston Village Pub owners announce pending sale

Niagara Gazette — It's an end of an era in Lewiston.

Last month, Ed Webster and Ken Scibetta celebrated a sixth year owning the Lewiston Village Pub. Sunday they'll step away from the restaurant they turned into one of the more successful businesses in the village.

The pair announced they'd be selling The Pub to an unknown buyer via a post to the restaurant's Facebook page Wednesday morning.

"This decision was not an easy one, and came after months of deliberation and reflection," the pair wrote. "Over the past six years, we have made some incredible memories. From our Cinco de Mayo fiesta with donkeys to Lobsterfest to Wing Night to Club Pub and of course to our favorite and craziest holiday, St. Patrick’s Day, it’s been a fantastic and crazy ride."

Scibetta said their lawyer advised them to not reveal the identity of their buyer.

One of The Pub's biggest contributions to Lewiston's growing community is Pubfest. Scibetta originally organized a carnival-like atmosphere to raise money for the Variety Kids Telethon but changed the format to focus on live music performances for spring 2013.

The pair confirmed Pubfest will continue despite their withdrawal from the village, with hopes to relocate from its home at Academy Park to a bigger space, most likely at Artpark.

It's the act of leaving Lewiston behind that has them saddened in their announcement and brought comments of support and disappointment from those who've supported them from the beginning.

"We will truly miss the Village of Lewiston and the friends and guests who have become like family to us over the years," the statement said. "We are grateful you’ve allowed us to be part of your lives these many years. However, the support and loyalty of such a close-knit community is what we will miss the most. Lewiston let us realize our dream and for that, we will be forever grateful."
