GUEST VIEW: Elected officials need to learn about Islam

Guest view by J. Gary DiLaura —

First of all this is not a totally free country.

It is a civilized Republic-protected and is held together by a Constitution, rules, regulations, laws and enforcement of those laws, in order to provide “certain” rights and freedoms.

For those who feel this is a totally free country, go ahead and shoot your neighbor the next time his dog pees on your lawn or just shoot his dog. After all, this is a free country.

Or the next time you fly, stand up and say in a loud voice, “I have a bomb.” After all, this is a free country with free speech guaranteed by the Constitution. And it was only a joke.

The problem with some people is they don’t seem to be able to separate reality from pure absurdity, and the problem with most of us is that we don’t understand Islam and the fanaticism it evokes. Any religion that preaches death, harm or violence to anyone for any reason, let alone for being a non-believer, is not a religion.

How could a “religion” that advocates violent punishment or death to women who “dishonor” their family be a religion? It is a criminal enterprise, run by outlawed fanatics using the guise of religion to take advantage of some really stupid people.

We, in our Constitution, guarantee the freedom to practice religion, but we have failed to define “religion.” This has allowed some extreme stretches of the imagination as to what is a religion. It has allowed a cancer of radical Islam to grow in this country and then be defended by some really stupid people. They own private property, more than 35 “encampments” from 35 to 300 acres protected by our laws teaching terrorist and military tactics and firearms, and our law enforcement is helpless to intervene as they are Muslims practicing a religion, Islam.

Congress must outlaw the practice of radical Islam in this country, period. Declare it a criminal organization and not allow it to fall under the protections that are given to the practice of religious faith.

How? By stating that any group of two or more people that preaches or practices violence of any kind is by definition, a criminal enterprise and not a religion. It’s almost that simple!

The Department of Justice under Janet Reno under the urging of then DOJ Civil Rights head Eric Holder issued very strict DOJ rules and regulations prohibiting FBI agents from opening an investigation against a “religious” group without prior DOJ approval, which was almost never granted.

What has resulted is the hindrance of the FBI to investigate radical religions, including the radical Brooklyn Mosque headed by a blind Muslim cleric who was preaching violence and death to the infidels. The result was the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, a preventable tragedy. Now the same Holder is the attorney general of the United States. May God help us! Muslims are preaching violence in this country and are being protected as a religion, absurd!

Muslims whose Islamic faith is based on the Quran believe there is no separation between their religion and the state. It is one! Think about that for a moment. Our Constitution separates religion and state and prohibits the two from being one. It is the very foundation of our country. It’s the reason the pilgrims left Europe. So now how could a believing Muslim hold an elected office? How could our elected officials allow that to happen? And then take an oath of public office on the Quran. Or build a “victory” mosque near ground zero.

Get an English interpretation of the Quran, like The Holy Quran translated by Abdullah Yusuf Ali and read it. It’s difficult to understand, but some fanatical beliefs do jump out, such as “if a woman is guilty of lewdness as attested to by four reliable witnesses, she may be put to death (page 48).” That seems OK in this country, doesn’t it? And death to the infidels really is in the Quran. A non-radical Muslim would not dishonor our 3,000 dead at Ground Zero with a mosque anymore that a normal Japanese citizen would want to place a statue of Isoroku Yamamoto in his Zero at Pearl Harbor, nor would we put a statue of Enola Gay in the center of Hiroshima at ground zero.

We need to help New Yorkers find a way to stop the mosque. We should also enlighten our congressmen and senators about the teachings of Islam as they must not have a clue, or they would certainly have taken steps to do something by now, wouldn’t they? Remember when Al Gore asked Ollie North during the 1985 Iran-Contra hearings: “Who’s Osama Bin Laden?” Gore was on a National Security Committee at the time. Maybe our elected officials don’t have a clue after all.

 J. Gary DiLaura (FBI -retired) is of Niagara Falls.

I am sorry to have to write this letter. However, lies, distortions, and vile falsehoods cannot go unchallenged. So I feel compelled to fight back against the most recent lie — the completely false accusations that the Niagara Falls Democratic Committee and I are racist.

He can’t even oversee his Public Works’ division, as evidenced by the deplorable condition and the job not done on our roads.
