LETTERS: Vote for Maziarz during primary

Niagara Gazette

Vote for Maziarz during primary

Be there! Be sure your vote is recorded for your choice of candidate to appear in the November general election.

Sen. George Maziarz is being challenged in a primary on this day. It is important that you be at the polls and cast your vote for Maziarz, the man who has served exceedingly well as your state senator in the 62nd Senate District. This district covers land from the Niagara to the Genesee rivers.

I have known Maziarz since his days as North Tonawanda city clerk, to Niagara County clerk and now the New York state Senate. His attention and strong dedication stretches from his immediate family to his Senate district family, and believe me when I state that he considers all his family. There has never been an issue too small nor too large for him to address. A phone call is always personally returned, and an individual, group or corporate concern addressed. Environmental issues are constantly in the forefront.

We must keep Maziarz working for us. Cast your primary vote for him Tuesday. I know I will.

Hoops dream realized in the Falls

I would like to applaud city officials. Recently, I was told that the city was putting up two new basketball hoops at 70th Street and Kies Avenue Park. This is a move forward to give our kids a safe place to play basketball outside. Now people driving don’t have to stop because kids are playing in the street. And I am sure the neighborhood watch will keep its eyes open to any trouble.

The other day while driving by Center Court’s basketball court, I saw Paul Harris and Jonny Flynn and a group of other high school kids playing, and it brought back a lot of memories. I would like to see more of these courts going up around the city because everyone will flock to this court to play. Maybe someone can even start a summer league with corporate sponsors. Hyde Park has more than enough room to accommodate a court and even a small skateboard park or a hockey area.

Great job to everyone who is making it happen, and let’s not stop here. Maybe even repaving the Center Court basketball courts.

Now it is up to us to keep the basketball courts up and to keep our next generation playing ball.
