LETTERS: Not sold on Obama’s plan
Niagara Gazette
Not struck by Pothole Killer
I just visited Niagara Falls, New York and the roads were awful. What was the City Council thinking? I cannot believe that the people of Niagara Falls have been duped with the Pothole Killer.
The streets of Niagara Falls have been in such bad shape for so long they need to be properly repaired. This stuff that is blown in will all blow away after the first winter.

Not sold on Obama’s plan
Barack Obama has done it again. He successfully took bad policies and sold them with golden words. In a June speech in Flint, Mich., he warned against an economy where big, mean corporations take all the money and don’t care about the less fortunate.
That is not how economics works. This is not a zero-sum game. In America, we create wealth. There is no money pie where those who take a lot leave only a little for the poor.
Obama alluded to a more equal distribution of wealth. If Obama wants wealth more equally distributed, he’s campaigning in the wrong country. Equal distributions means equal poverty. Free enterprise means equal opportunity. We cannot all be poor just to be equal.
I’m sorry, but too many soldiers have given their lives, limbs and minds to purchase and secure my freedom. I will not let Obama be the one to rob it from me. We are a lazy, ungrateful people who see the sacrifices and, hey, if the government would pay for our houses, we’d welcome that.
What have we done to secure our freedom? Do we get up everyday and contribute to the economy by working a good job? Do we educate ourselves on current issues and how an economy runs? We’ve gone from George Washingtons, Abraham Lincolns, even Ronald Reagans to Obamas — from thinkers to marketers. We must not fall for the false, dangerous promises of Obama, no matter how well he presents them.
