LETTERS: Wilson teacher/coaches should be fired

Niagara Gazette

Wilson teacher/coaches should be fired

After reading about the incident involving the high school baseball team, I had to write to say how shocked and outraged I am that this incident occurred at all but was especially saddened by the fact that there were adults on the bus.

Even if I stretch the limits of credibility and buy that the coaches did not see or hear what happened, I believe they should be fired. The fact is that they are paid to be aware of what is going on at all times. They are charged with the protection and well being of young people and must be vigilant when they are responsible for the safety of these children. They must expect the unexpected. They would know that there are personalities who warrant monitoring. They must guard against just this sort of thing happening.

If they are not punished for this criminal lapse, then the message to all the students is loud and clear. No one cares. There is no other interpretation possible. How sad for all those kids.

How sad that the rest of North America will also get hear that message about your community.

Thruway Authority needs to go

With the recent toll increase and the blatant disregard the Board at the Thruway Authority has shown to the people of Western New York, the governor, Senate and Assembly, it is past time to eliminate this huge bureaucracy.

It has become overly apparent that the Thruway Authority does what they do because they feel they can with no repercussions from the politicians in Albany. Now it the time to stand up and take control of the system that has become a bigger and bigger drag on the economy of this state.

We are being told to conserve on fuel, we do and we get punished for doing so. Increasing the Tolls will force more truckers out of business or force them to drive around New York state. High tolls along with extremely high fuel costs are driving up the costs of everything we purchase at the stores. Food and clothing will and are being effected.

This is the time to cut tolls, cut taxes and ease the burden on the taxpayers and toll payers across the state of New York. We ask you all to show your support, sign the petition at noGItolls.com, call your Assemblymen and Senators and tell them that we are tired of these unaccountable, unelected Authorities who are forcing us to pay more for everything. I just sent this message to Governor Paterson at this link, please send him one too.

The time is now to stand up and take action, it will not get done without your help.
