The pair then invented the bright green, plastic Ripstix and the craze started tapping its way around the planet. The ladies have trained more than 1,200 instructors and are in 72 markets around the world. They expect to launch an online community sometime in April.
In the meantime, local fitness enthusiasts of all ages are getting into the beat.
“I love it,” said Arlene Page of Niagara Falls, a recently retired marketing shift manager at the Seneca Casino. Page, who calls herself a “young 62,” said that club owner Gail Vizzi always manages to keep things fresh.
“She’s always trying something new,” Page said, adding “You do this class and you just want more.”IF YOU GO WHAT: Pound classes, using drumsticks and music in a workout class WHERE: Summit Fitness, 6930 Williams Road, Niagara Falls WHEN: 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 10:30 a.m. Sundays MORE INFORMATION: Call 297-4300 or visit www.summitfitness.info
