Higgins facing a primary as another candidate announces

A Buffalo businessman says he'll challenge Congressman Brian Higgins in the Democratic primary.

Emin "Eddie" Egriu announced his candidacy in the Western New York district on Monday.

Egriu is a 52-year-old contractor and former project director of a community group committed to revitalizing city neighborhoods.

He is the second person to enter the race for the 26th Congressional District representing Buffalo and Niagara Falls in recent days. Last week, Republican Kathy Weppner, a former radio talk show host, announced her candidacy.

Higgins is serving his fifth term.
