A Falls man who told sheriff's deputies he was checking on soybeans in a field off of Williams Road was charged with trespassing on Tuesday.
A deputy on patrol in the area about 10:45 a.m. said he noticed a vehicle driving in a soybean field in the 7000 block of Williams Road, across the street from the Liberty Drive intersection, on land owned by Forest City Land Group with posted no trespassing/hunting signs.
Checking the situation out, the deputy said he approached David J. Bowman who told him he was in the field checking on soybeans with a "farmer friend." Bowman said his friend wanted to show him how small the soybean crop was this year.
The deputy, though, recognized Bowman as someone he's warned not to hunt on the property in the past.
Bowman said he didn't know the land was private property and told the deputy, "Man, I wasn't even hunting back here. I don't hunt back here anymore."
Bowman, 50, 2080 River Road, Niagara Falls, was charged with trespassing.
