Buses for disabled stripped of catalytic convertors in Wheatfield

A program coordinator with a facility that provides services for the developmentally disabled reported to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office that sometime between Wednesday and Thursday last week someone removed four catalytic convertors from various vehicles in a rear parking lot.

All of the damaged vehicles in the Commerce Court lot were used to transport disabled clients throughout the day. The coordinator estimated the damage at $1,500.

It was recommended that vehicles be moved to the front of the facility where there is better lighting.

A deputy said periodic checks of the area will be provided and local scrapyards would be checked for the catalytic convertors.
