Woman with 9-month-old child caught shoplifting in Falls

Falls police arrested a 26-year-old Falls woman who was caught trying to leave a supermarket with a bottle of Nyquil hidden in her 9-month-old daughter's stroller.

Angela E. Basile, 26, 511 Hyde Park Blvd., Apt. 2, was charged with petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child about 1:45 p.m.

Staff at a supermarket on the 1000 block of Portage Road told police they saw Basile place the Nyquil in the stroller and try to walk out of the store. She was stopped in the vestibule and held for police.

The child was turned over to her biological father, who police noted had legal custody of the child.

The incident was also reported to the state Office of Children and Family Services.
