BLOTTER: Police reports published Sept. 2

LOCKPORT

Bottle bomb warning issued

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office is warning people about homemade bombs made with plastic soft drink bottles after encountering two of them Sunday morning.

Two such bombs were found early Sunday morning on North Royal Parkway. One had already gone off and the other exploded soon after a sheriff’s patrol arrived at the scene.

WILSON

Traffic stop leads to felony DWI charge

A Wilson man was charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation after a traffic stop in the town on Friday night.

A Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy said he spotted Robert G. Green driving down the center of Pettit Street about 9:50 p.m. The deputy noted the street has no line markings but said there was no reason Green should have been driving in the middle of the road. After running a stop sign at Route 18, the deputy pulled Green over.

He appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. He refused a chemical test. A computer check showed his driver’s license to have been suspended on Nov. 2, 2011 for a DWI charge.

Green, 52, 19 Harbor Park, was charged with felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, DWI and two traffic violations.

NEWFANE

Felony DWI charge for Falls man

A Falls man was charged with felony DWI after a traffic stop on Lockport-Olcott Road Friday night.

A Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy said he was driving south on Lockport-Olcott Road about 7:30 p.m. and noticed a car driven by Kenneth D. Barosky change lanes without a signal and then fail to keep right.

Barosky appeared intoxicated and smelled of grape cough syrup, which he told the deputy he’d taken because of a cough.

He failed field sobriety tests and gave a high positive for the presence of alcohol on an Alcosensor. He twice refused to take a breath test. His registration had been suspended on July 5 for an insurance lapse and he had a prior DWI conviction on Nov. 26, 2004, in the Falls.
