Newfane resident says his SUV was stolen — and returned

An Elmwood Lane man called police Saturday after finding his '94 Ford Ranger parked a different way then he left it in his driveway.

The man said he came home about 11 p.m. Friday and backed the truck into his driveway. He left it — with the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition — and went to bed.

Saturday morning, the man said he went outside and discovered the truck was parked in the opposite direction.

Upon further inspection, the man said a GPS unit, a stereo amplifier and a dozen packs of Seneca menthol cigarettes were gone from the truck as well. The estimated loss is $500.

It also appeared that a suspect tried to remove the stereo from the dash, damaging the truck's dashboard in the process.
