Falls cops turn to public for information on fatal Sunday shooting

NIAGARA FALLS —

Falls Police say they are hopeful improved communications and trust with folks living in communities in the North End will give them a break in their latest murder investigation.

Detectives say they are looking for addition help from the public in identifying a gunman who rolled up on a man outside of his Ashland Avenue home and shot and killed him.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1300 block of Ashland Avenue just before 5 a.m. Sunday. When patrol officers arrived on the scene, they found Joseph Medley Sr., 37, laying on the ground in front of his home.

Medley had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and was rushed to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was pronounced dead there a short time later.

Investigators said they received some cooperation from neighborhood residents and expressed their thanks to the community for their assistance. However, detective said they are continuing to look for more help from the public. 

Detectives have declined to comment on a possible motive for the slaying.
