Witnesses helped Falls police catch up with a reported purse snatcher on the 1500 block of Pine Avenue on Wednesday night.
An officer said he was inside a business on the block about 9 p.m. when a man came in and said he'd just witnessed a purse snatching and the suspect had gone between two buildings nearby.
While searching for the suspect, the officer was told the suspect was now walking on the 600 block of 16th Street. As the officer approached the man, he also spotted a woman nearby and heard the man say, "Why are you doing this to me?"
The officer eventually caught up with the pair on Walnut Avenue at which point the woman said the man, identified as Jonathan F. Moody, had taken her purse and was throwing things out of it. It turned out the man and woman were in a relationship and the incident was domestic in nature.
The purse and its scattered contents was found behind a bush on Walnut Avenue.
Moody was taken into custody and charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree menacing. The woman told police she did not want an order of protection.
