Falls police are investigating a reported threat made to a school — from another school — within the Niagara Falls City School District.

Police Superintendent Bryan DalPorto said Niagara County Sheriff's Office dispatchers received a threatening phone call at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. He said the sheriff's office contacted Niagara Falls police and the department was able to trace the call to a different school building within the district.

Once they knew where the call originated from, he said, police were able to deduce the threat was not credible.

"We were able to ascertain pretty quickly it was an idle threat," DalPorto said. "There was no delays in dismissing the students."

Following the incident, the city school district placed an all-call to parents of students at the two schools – the district's high school and Gaskill Preparatory School – involved.

The district called the threat "ill-conceived" in the statement, adding student activity at both schools will remain ongoing as normal Thursday.
