Niagara County Sheriff's deputies responded to an Upper Mountain Road address about 4 p.m. Sunday for a report of a toddler left alone outside a home.
A witness said they were walking by the home and noticed a 2-year-old girl sitting on the porch of the home crying. They said the child went to the front door and knocked but no one answered.
A sheriff's captain entered the home and found the girl's parents sleeping in a bedroom. They were unaware the toddler was outside and thought it was in the room with them.
The deputy said the two parents, the father age 25 and the mother, 24, were warned of the dangers of a small child being outside alone.
Deputies also reported the incident to Child Protective Services. No charges were filed.
