Olivieri-Perez escaped from custody during an incident in the Falls Tuesday morning.

"A number of our (deputies) are assigned to the Marshal's Task Force and they were working in the Falls (Tuesday), cleaning up some warrants," Niagara County Undersheriff Michael Filicetti said. "They picked up (Olivieri-Perez) and he was placed in the back of a car."

Somehow, Olivieri-Perez was able to get out of the police vehicle and run from investigators. The escape touched off an immediate manhunt.

"We're still looking into the circumstances of how he got out," Filicetti said. "But we are looking for him.
