Motorcyclist killed in Thruway crash identified

A motorcycle rider killed in an accident Sunday morning after he lost control of the Harley he was driving on a town highway has been identified by police.

Charles Seiler, 44, was on a ramp connecting the I-190 north with the I-290 east when he drove off the ramp at about 10:30 a.m.

"For some reason, he lost control, and crossed the section of grass between the ramp from the I-190 north and the I-190 south," Lt. Nick Bado said. "He got over to the southern ramp and was struck by a minivan."

Seiler, of Amherst, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the minivan and a passenger in the vehicle were not injured, and the minivan driver is not facing any charges.

The ramp was shut down for several hours after the accident, and police are continuing their investigation, Bado said.

"I'm not sure if they are planning to do a blood test to see if anything was in his system," he said.
