'Driving off' beer buzz at Krull Park leads to DWI arrest

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Ransomville man for DWI late Sunday afternoon after responding to a suspicious car complaint at Krull Park in Olcott.

A Gasport man told deputies he saw a vehicle driving in circles in the park about 5 p.m. and thought the man behind the wheel may be trying to follow the Gasport man's young niece.

Deputies caught up to the driver at the southeast corner of the park standing outside his car with the keys in his hand. He provided deputies with identification and when they asked why he was driving in circles in the park, he replied he had drank a beer after landscaping and was "driving it off" before he went home.

Identified as Guadalupe Garcia-Guerra, he appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests and an Alco-Sensor tested positive for the presence of alcohol. A chemical breath test determined his blood alcohol content to be 0.13 percent.

Garcia-Guerra, 55, 2251 Youngstown-Wilson Road, Ransomville, was charged with DWI.
