(Continued)

• ASSAULT: Rashaad Rakeen Welch, 22, of 1967 Niagara St., Apt. 204, was arrested on multiple charges Monday stemming from an assault at a local health facility. A program assistant working at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center told police Welch was a patient under supervision at the hospital when she noticed him becoming agitated and he eventually “snapped,” grabbing a registered nurse by the throat and punching her in the face and head. The witness told police that she attempted to help the woman who was being attacked, but the suspect threw her off of him. At one point, according to reports, the suspect took the victim into a room where he punched and kicked her several times before he was locked in a room to be controlled. Reports said both the victim and the witness were taken to the emergency room for treatment.

• LARCENY: A group of Chinese tourists reported several items stolen from their tour van during a visit to the city on Tuesday. Reports indicated that the tourists told police that sometime between 11 a.m. and noon Tuesday an unknown person gained access to their van while it was parked in the 100 block of Buffalo Avenue and stole two Apple iPad computers, two Cannon cameras and a pair of GPS units. Total loss was listed at $1,500.
