Niagara Gazette — City of Tonawanda police arrested a 16-year-old Lackawanna resident who was allegedly part of a group that posted a phony Craigslist advertisement for an iPhone and attacked the attempted buyer of the device.
David F. Geary Jr. was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for second-degree robbery, fourth-degree conspiracy and menacing.
The posting was put up on the site Feb. 16 and advertised a “mint condition iPhone 5” for $400.
“When the alleged seller was contacted, via text message, he instructed the victim to meet in the area of the Tonawanda Housing authority,” a release from the City of Tonawanda Police Department states. “When the victim arrived, he was jumped by two males, while another stood by and watched.”
During the attack, which took place Feb. 17 at 10 p.m., the suspects stole the victim’s iPhone 3.
The victim did not suffer any serious injuries from the incident, according to police.
Geary was held for court.
