LOCKPORT

Woman with child caught bring drugs into county jail

A Niagara Falls woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after trying to smuggle marijuana in to an inmate at the Niagara County Jail while her child was with her, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office said. 

Rosie L. Agee, 22, 2659 Spring St., Niagara Falls, was also charged with introducing prison contraband and unlawful possession of marijuana. According to the Sheriff's Office, Agee tried to hide the marijuana in her mouth.

Child Protective Services was also contacted.

• THEFT: Officers are looking into a car break-in in the 10 block of Rainbow Boulevard. A 21-year-old woman told police that sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:12 p.m. Tuesday someone broke into her 2012 Scion by smashing the passenger-side window. The victim said her purse was taken.

• THEFT: Police are investigating a car break-in in the 400 block of 17th Street. A 47-year-old man told officers that sometime around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday someone broke into his 2001 Cadillac  STS by smashing the driver's side window. The victim said the suspect was able to open the trunk of the vehicle and took an amplifier.

• Charged: Mark A. Matthews, 30, 1311 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda, was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI (BAC higher than 0.18 percent) and moving from a lane unsafely about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the sheriff's office. Matthews was charged after being pulled over on Williams Road for swerving in and out of his lane. After failing field sobriety tests, a chemical test determined his blood alcohol content to be 0.19 percent.
