Man charged after crash at country club

A city resident faces a drunk driving charge after being involved in a one-vehicle accident on the grounds of Lockport Town & Country Club.

Christopher A. Sidote, 22, 63 Harrison Ave., was charged with driving while intoxicated, unsafe lane change, improper lane use and unreasonable speed around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

According to Lockport Police Department, the vehicle that Sidote was driving on East Avenue left the road, went down the hill at the country club and struck a tree. Paramedics from Lockport Fire Department removed Sidote from the vehicle and took him to the Erie County Medical Center. While there, Sidote was interviewed by police, who said there was a strong smell of alcohol on his breath.

Sidote submitted to a blood test at the medical center and was issued an appearance ticket, police said. He is due in Lockport City Court on Monday. The car he was driving was towed by Adams Towing.
