Raid and arrest nabs Falls gang member with history of dealing and violence

NIAGARA FALLS — Falls Police narcotics detectives say they've bagged a local gangbanger with a history of violence and drug dealing.

Detectives popped Antoine Bones as he was driving on Highland Avenue Friday night, not far from his Centre Avenue home. As investigators took Bones into custody, members of the Falls Police Emergency Response Team burst through the door of his home.

Inside, they recovered more than 11 ounces of powder and crack cocaine.

"This was a several month long investigation," Narcotics Division Capt. Dave LeGault said. "(Bones) has been around awhile and he's been a pretty big (cocaine) supplier in the city."

Bones, who is affiliated with the Bloods street gang, has been dealing coke on the Cataract City streets since at least 2007.

In 2010, Bones and another Bloods gang member, crossed paths with cops again and this time they had crack and a loaded handgun. Bones and Brandon Gutzmore were driving in the 1700 block of Pierce Avenue, in a car that had been linked to a shooting incident, when officers stopped them.

A search of the car turned up a loaded handgun and a large baggie containing smaller baggies of crack cocaine. Police said the handgun, which was identified as a .380 caliber FIE was "loaded ( with six rounds in its magazine) and cocked, with a round in the chamber.”

When ERT officers hit Bones' home on Friday, they were concerned about what they might encounter.

"The house was pretty well fortified," LeGault said. "There were bars in the doors and windows, it was locked up pretty well."

Investigators said they found the powder and crack cocaine in several locations inside Bones' home. They also recovered a digital scale and packaging materials.

Bones, 27, 1140 Centre Ave., was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
